The Vendor's View - When we first came across the property it was a huge derelict rundown house in need of complete renovation, and a lot of TLC. It was exactly the kind of challenging project that we were looking for. Although the house was run down, it had a really nice feel and so much potential. We could see that it used to be such a beautiful building that had been neglected over the years.
We have done extensive work on the property; it has been partially re-wired, re-plumbed, re-plastered and almost everything has been replaced. We have retained as many original features as possible including two beautiful period fireplaces, both of which are working. While we have kept these period features, we have also mixed in some modern elements and fitted the most amazing up-to-date kitchen. For me, the kitchen the most stunning aspect of the house and it is a very social place - the whole family gathers here. There's space for informal dining with the two breakfast bars and a smaller table, while we use the dining room for more formal occasions and have easily seated 14 for Christmas dinner!
We really like the location here; it's extremely close to Westwood Cross and this has been especially useful for the shopping and entertainment needs of our teenage children! One of our sons goes to school at the top of the road at St George's, which is a really good school. We really enjoy the Northwood club opposite, where we have become members and visit as a family. They often have live music there, it's brilliant as no one has to drive and we can just step over the road and socialise there. Location-wise it has been absolutely fabulous. Friends and family have been able to visit by car or get the train to Ramsgate just up the road, and there is a bus stop outside.
It's a fabulous house for a big family, or for people who love entertaining. The house would also suit a multi-generational family; with a bathroom, access to the kitchen and space for bedroom(s) on the ground floor for elderly relatives. Although it's a big house, it has a real homely feeling, and everyone who visits says the same.
