Green Gates is a very private modern house set in Jubilee Road considered one of the best roads in Totnes in the South Hams. The house was custom built in the 1980s for the architect owner out of traditional stone with timber elevations under a slate roof.
It offers very versatile and spacious accommodation and features double volume ceilings in the Living Room and Master Bedroom.
The property is entered via a side gate on the ground floor level where there is a small office room and a large ground floor bedroom which leads directly out to the garden. This combination could become a great home office with its own entrance. There is also a bathroom/utility room on this floor.
From here and down some steps is the 36 ft Kitchen, Dining, Family Room with sliding patio doors onto the south facing lower garden. This is bright and airy space perfect for entertaining or relaxing with the family. The kitchen is fully fitted with a breakfast bar and has the advantage of a large walk in larder. There is a door that leads through to the Workshop and Garage.
On the first floor is the lovely living room with vaulted ceilings and windows that overlook Totnes town and the countryside beyond. Off this living room is a south facing terrace which is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the panoramic views. At one end of the first floor is the master bedroom suite with vaulted ceilings and a large ensuite shower room. At the other end of this floor there is a further double bedroom and a single bedroom with a mezzanine area which would be perfect for kids. There is also a family bathroom.
With some updating and redecoration this property really could offer a modern and contemporary feel.
The easily manageable gardens are on two levels with the upper level, approached by gates from the road, offering an off street parking space, lawned area and large garden shed. The lower level is approached by steps and is also accessed via the Kitchen which is laid to patio. The sheltered gardens are very private and are a haven for sun worshippers.
Totnes is a medieval Town on the River Dart and is a thriving centre for music, art, theatre and natural health. Being the commercial centre for the South Hams the town is a hive of activity and has a thriving Friday and Saturday market and a famous food market on the last Sunday of the month.
There is excellent communication with the A38 about 10 minutes drive away giving access to the motorway network via the M4. Totnes station offers direct services to London Paddington which only takes approx. 3 hours on the faster trains.
From Totnes Town centre travel over the old bridge through Bridgetown, upon reaching the main road proceed up the hill and take the left onto Bourton Lane then turn right onto Jubilee Road. Green Gates can be found about halfway up on the right hand side.
