SITUATION Great Oakley is a village and civil parish in the Tendring District of Essex. It is approximately 13 miles to the east of Colchester and 6 miles south west of Harwich.

The B1414 runs through the middle of Great Oakley village linking to the A120, the A133 and onto the A12. The nearest railway stations are located at Wrabness approximately 4 miles away and Thorpe-le-Soken approximately 5 miles away with trains running to Colchester and continuing into London Liverpool Street. 

DIRECTIONS From the A12 take the exit at junction 29 onto the A120. Follow the A120 for approximately 12 miles and exit onto Harwich Road, this will be signposted Wix. Take the first left onto Oakley Road, follow this road into the village of Great Oakley, at the T-Junction turn left onto the B1414 continue for approximately half a mile through the village and take a left hand turning into The Soils/ Sparrows Corner. After approximately 100 metres access to the development site will be on your left immediately after the last residential property. 

CURRENT USE The development site is currently in use by a licensed dog boarding kennels and training business and there is a building housing the kennels on site which would require demolition prior to development. The remainder of the site is grassland used for exercising and training the dogs. The boundaries to the site are clearly visible on the ground and the land slopes gently down towards the north east. There are no public footpaths crossing the site.
