Our Time Here - This house seemed to tick all the boxes but also offered something a little bit different. Its bright versatile living accommodation gives you a great feeling of space, even on a gloomy day. The house sits on the corner of a very quiet road with very little through traffic. This makes the low maintenance South-facing garden an extension to the living accommodation. Although small it's an adequate size and is accessed through French doors. We were delighted to become the owners after some competition.
One of the things that drew us to this property was the open plan layout. The underfloor heating keeps the place warm, but on a hot summers day the flooring helps keep you cool. The house has been built to be as energy efficient as possible, so the day-to-day running costs are low. We go away a lot and we have found that it's a very easy house to lock and leave, being secure with a low maintenance garden.
The location is excellent, providing a sea view from the top window, and less than a 10 minute walk to Whitstable town centre. Although central, there is no noise at all and the house is situated on an unmade road, which has prevented its use as a shortcut. Whitstable train station is within walking distance from our house and is on the fast route to London getting you into St. Pancras in under an hour.
As a young family with a toddler, being so close to the beach has been ideal. We like to walk down the hill to Whitstable and get the bus back if we're feeling a bit tired; the bus stop is conveniently placed at the end of the road. As well as delivering a service to the town, the bus route can also take you into Canterbury within 15 minutes.
Whitstable is a lovely quaint town, full of independent shops and there are always plenty of events going on in the summer such as the Oyster Festival and lots of arts and crafts activities. We have found it to be a very child-friendly town with lots of things for little ones to do and there are some really lovely parks.
We will greatly miss living here, but we are relocating to be closer to our family.
