The Story

Entertaining in the drawing room, relaxing in the steam room or soaking up the sunshine on the terrace - the owner of the house on The Drive at Ickenham has much to enjoy about her beautiful home.
It was 13 years ago that she bought the house and since then she has transformed the property, extending, renovating and bringing to its interior her keen eye for design.
"It now has a very contemporary look," she explains. "It has a very bright, fresh and modern style throughout: every room has been finished to a very high quality."
The property was in the process of being built when she first saw it - but she knew immediately it would make a perfect family home.
"It was in a gated area, and was brand new and offered seclusion," she recalls. "It was also set back from the road and screened by woodland. The house felt as if it sat within its own little space."

STUNNING KITCHEN
Today the seven-bedroom house has been extended to offer even more outstanding family and entertaining space. Visitors enter via a reception hall and find the sleek kitchen breakfast room to the left.
"This is a brand new designer kitchen, which was fitted to a high standard," she explains. "It has bespoke handle-less doors in elephant grey, together with quartz work surfaces and splash backs. There are two new integrated dishwashers, as well as a fridge, freezer, Neff double oven and microwave oven and Elica extractor fan."
There is also remote control mood lighting under the units and work surfaces; the tap is from Blanco and a Harvey water softener has been installed.
"The extension work we did allow us to have a really big kitchen and now that it has been refitted it is a lovely place to cook and sit up at the breakfast bar."

MAGNIFICENT LIVING
To the other side is the dining room, cloakroom and then the fabulous, open-plan living area.
"We now have this lovely, large space on the ground floor, which can be arranged however you choose," she says. "We have our television on the wall in here, comfortable seating and even a pool table. It is fantastic for just relaxing quietly or for entertaining."
She adds: "We also have bi-folding doors in this part of the house that can be pulled right back on to the garden."

DESIGNER TOUCHES
There are concrete floors to both the ground and first floor.
"This was wonderful when the children were younger as it meant the sound of them running about did not travel," she points out.
The owner sound-proofed the newer end of the house and had Onyo sound system installed. Other features include a Stovax Gazco fireplace; a 3D feature wall with mood lighting; recessed ceilings with LED lights and a designer crystal chandelier.
"The whole of the ground floor has been newly laid with laminate flooring in white with a grey pattern," she adds.

A GLASS ACT
Stairs with glass bannisters lead up to the accommodation on the first and second floors, where new, high quality carpets have been laid.
Five bedrooms are on the first floor; four of these have en suite bathrooms and the master bedroom also has a dressing room. There is also a family bathroom at this level. Two more bedrooms, one of which has its own bathroom, are located on the top floor.
"We have Cat 6 cables installed to all bedrooms, as well as the ground floor, for fast direct internet, and there are newly fitted Multilines wardrobes in the new part of the house," she says. "We also have a fitted study by Multilines."
The bathrooms are equally stylish, with Grohe taps and fittings, as well as Porcelanosa tiles: "I do love the bathrooms - they all have a lovely, contemporary feel," she adds.

SHEER PERFECTION
The sumptuous style of the house is apparent in every room. The whole place also has an air of relaxation - and nowhere is this more apparent than in the steam area.
"We created a gym, with a fully tiled steam room and new hydro spa pool," she says.
