The Vendor's View - I bought the property in a near derelict condition and spent well over two years renovating and restoring the extensive accommodation. The location and the beautiful view over Spencer Square Gardens, the harbour and the sea are real highlights of this property, but for me the potential interested me the most.
The accommodation here is both spacious and versatile, and can be used in a wide variety of ways. Currently I use the ground floor rooms as an office and store room for my business, with my main living space on the first and second floor; while I rent out the basement flat and the cottage on the other side of the courtyard as a holiday let. I particularly enjoy spending time in the sitting room, which along with the stunning view, is also south-facing so the sun streams in.
The location is wonderful for easy access to local amenities and travel. There is a Waitrose on the road behind along with the bus stop for the Thanet Loop service, which allows you to reach the railway station, the surrounding towns and Westwood Cross. There are some great local restaurants, and the harbour is just a short 5 minute walk away from the property.
I enjoy walking my dog in the gardens across the road, which are maintained by local volunteers. They have a social gathering with food and wine after tidying up the gardens. Its a really lovely community spirit and a great way to get to know the neighbours. There are also tennis courts and a little pavilion offering racket hire as well as selling coffee and snacks.
The house could easily be turned back into one very grand house, for an extended family looking to live together, or for someone running a business like I did.
I absolutely love it here, and Ill be sorry to leave. I really like the position and I wouldnt move if I didnt have to. Sadly, now that I am less mobile I feel that its the right time to move to a property that better suits my needs.
