West Down is an extremely sought after village situated almost equi-distant on the A361 between Ilfracombe to the north and Braunton to the south.  There is a regular bus service which connects the village to these two areas & from Braunton to Barnstaple, the regional centre of North Devon.  The village has a very good primary school, excellent public house, church and thriving community shop.  There are sandy beaches at Woolacombe to the west & the rugged North Devon coast surrounding Ilfracombe.  There are also good beaches at Putsborough, Woolacombe, Croyde & Saunton where there is also the renowned golf club with its championship courses.  Ilfracombe has amenities including secondary schooling, local shops & stores, Tesco store and again a golf course.

Directions

From Barnstaple proceed along the A361 to Braunton.  At the crossroads and traffic lights in the centre of the village continue straight on signposted to Ilfracombe.  After the village of Knowle and then the Foxhunters public house turn right signposted to West Down. Continue up the hill and into the village, then straight on passing the pub on the left and the property is a short distance along on the right hand side.
