The Grade II Listed Millwater originally dates from the Tudor times with extensions and remodelling having taken place in the Victorian period. Subsequently, Sir Wilfred Stokes (the inventor of the mortar bomb) did works in the 1920s, with the most recent extensive re-development on Millwater having been carried out by the present owners when they bought the house in 2007 - completely redesigning and renovating the house as well as extending it.
