When it comes to lovely barn conversions, this one tops the bill. Set on the North Devon Coast in a stunning location this holiday home was once the granary and grain store for the nearby Exmansworthy Farm. Restored in 2009 and beautifully furnished it retains many original features and now provides a wonderful little holiday home bolt hole in this lovely region of Devon.
Surrounded by open farmland, the pretty granary stands proudly in the corner of a group of 8 smart little barns just a field back from the National Trust coastline in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The barn has a reversed living layout to take advantage of the fabulous vaulted ceilings and exposed oak beams on the second floor making this open plan living room bright and airy with a feeling of openness. From here French Doors lead down to the pretty south facing courtyard garden with its herbaceous bed with seasonal flowers and views across the peninsula to the sea.
The two bedrooms and bathrooms are on the ground floor. They both have built in wardrobes and one has an en-suite shower room. A large cupboard under the stairs cleverly houses the Bosch Washer/Dryer accessed via the bathroom.
Saltwind Granary provides a successful smart and stylish self-catering experience for those who seek the rural idyll within a stones throw of some of the West Countries most glorious coastline.
The South West Coast path is joined from the National Trust car park immediately next to the barns and offers wonderful walks and spectacular countryside to magnificent Hartland Point with its dramatic cliffs, and it's pretty white washed lighthouse deep down on the rocks below. Further afield but still only 25 minutes by car is the lovely sandy beach at Sandymouth, in stunning countryside and with a National Trust Café and plenty of parking. Bude is a delightful small seaside resort with a huge sandy beach, a great selection of shops and cafes and a fascinating canal and Sea Lock.
This whole area of North Devon is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and for those wishing to walk , be surrounded by pretty unspoilt countryside or just wishing to unwind it really is the perfect location!
