Full description

Tenure: Freehold

Dating back to the 1600s, this property now offers 34 bedrooms, the majority of which are 2-bedroom family suites and all of which offer en-suite facilities.

Due to the nature of its use, the ground floor of the main building is made up of a large entrance hall, a Victorian wood-panelled lounge and an extensive bar area, as well as commercial kitchen facilities. The impressive entrance hall of the main building boasts a sweeping staircase leading up to its galleried landing from which access to the executive bedroom suites are gained. On the ground floor, a corridor links the newer parts of the building to the old.

All upper floor bedrooms on the southern side of the building boast a stunning view across The Channel. This beautiful area of the Isle of Wight is secluded from the busier towns and seaside attractions and, as an area, is renowned for the types of plants that are able to grow in this southern location, not naturally seen in other parts of the country.

Currently used as a hotel, the property still attracts a wealth of families and individuals who enjoy its private

location with easy access to both coastal and countryside walks nearby. The property has an indoor swimming pool and sauna room with changing rooms situated in a separate building, which also currently has a large room which could be used as a gym, but is currently used as a play area for young children.

Over the centuries, the building has been used as an enviable private home by many high-society figures and, subject to the relevant planning permissions, could be reinstated to provide a stunning private estate.

There is ample parking at the front of the building, with a central fountain feature casting your mind back to its original former glory. The grounds which surround the building consist of wooded areas and formal gardens where the views are breathtaking.

What the Owner says:

We have been at the this property for 16 years and have really enjoyed our time. It is a very peaceful, relaxed location with waterfalls, streams and the sound of the sea.

The hotel enjoys the sunny aspect all day round and is sheltered from northerly winds. The Old Park is very secluded and overlooks the sea as well as having expansive beautiful gardens with many features and atmospheric woods.

There is very little light pollution, which is ideal for those who enjoy starry nights. The little beach at Binnel Bay which is accessed through the woods is really wild and rugged; furthermore, it is also a good place for catching lobsters and sea bass.

We have upgraded the hotel sympathetically, retaining all period fixtures and fittings.
