We were already living in Woodford Green so we knew the area very well. We wanted to move to a larger home but couldn’t find the right one, so we decided that should the opportunity arise we would buy a plot and build our own home.

This is exactly what we ended up doing. We found a chalet bungalow which offered us the potential to develop the plot and build the home we couldn’t find. The build was completed during 2008, and as we started with a blank canvas we were very particular about its layout and design.

The kitchen/breakfast room is the centre of a busy household where we cook, eat and chat around the island unit/breakfast bar. One of the many joys of our home is its space, we can all be together or find a room for individual time.

You can work from home in the study, curl up with a good book in the cosy sitting room, or all be together in the spacious sitting room. The sitting room also links via bi-fold-doors to the dining room making it ideal for entertaining family and friends.

An advantage of living within Woodford is that we are spoilt for choice when it comes to schooling, there are also local shops and restaurants and for getting into London, Woodford Station is only 0.5 miles away.

We often take walks to the beautiful Knighton Wood, which has some fantastic walks and a picturesque lake to enjoy. It’s fantastic that the woods are so close by, being located at the end of our road, making it as easy to access the city as it is the countryside.
