Our Time Here - Weve had the property for over 12 years. One big draw was that it is within walking distance of the University of Kent just 15 minutes walk to campus. We also really liked the fact that the property was a converted Oast house, an unusual, fun place to live. Being located on a quiet lane, its secluded, peaceful and tranquil here, but also accessible, which was exactly what we were looking for. One of my favourite features are three sets of large oak French doors facing South. The upper floors open up onto Juliette balconies overlooking fields, which is particularly beautiful in the winter when you get that very bright, crisp wintery light. I have a study at the top of the house and the scenery is a beautiful backdrop while writing. The garden wraps three sides of the house, so you can follow the sun on sunny days, which is a lovely aspect. We have found this a very easy house to maintain. Park Farm Close includes four Oast houses and its situated in Tyler Hill, a pretty hamlet on the edge of Canterbury. There is a nice local pub here, along with playing fields with a childrens playground and a community centre. The location is ideal; quiet and peaceful with a countryside feel, yet well under 10 minutes drive to central Canterbury and the train station with high speed link to London. As walkers, its wonderful that the house is surrounded by woods and farmland. Past the Oast houses a track takes you into miles of countryside. The coast at Whitstable is also just a 15-minute drive, so we feel that the situation is perfect. We have enjoyed the large kitchen, which we recently renovated with bespoke units and a granite surface. It has been a great place for cooking and eating together, and a wonderful living space to spend time with friends. We are now re-locating, but we will certainly miss the location and living in such a pretty house with its distinctively shaped rooms, beams, exposed brick, and interesting local history.
