The Story

ENHANCING THE HOME
The house was new when the couple bought it nine years ago and
since then they have enhanced and extended it further.
Work to the property has seen them complete a two-storey
extension to give themselves a large drawing room downstairs and
a substantial bedroom, with en suite dressing room and shower
room upstairs. French windows from the new master bedroom
open on to a Juliet balcony.
“We also carried out a single storey extension, which gave us a
much larger kitchen breakfast room and allowed us to create a wet
room.”
GENEROUS RECEPTION SPACE
Today the ground floor of the house features well-proportioned
living space. The entrance hall leads through into the family room,
which in turn opens into the kitchen breakfast room. Beyond this is
the wet room.
The elegant dining room is situated at the front of the house and
has a bay window – this is a superb entertaining space. The long
drawing room is dual aspect, which makes it especially bright. There
is also a snug for everyday relaxation.
“It has been good having so many reception rooms: I can watch
television in one while my wife reads in another. The main drawing
room is nice for settling down to watch a film together in or for
spending time with friends and family.”
IMMACULATE FINISH
The whole house has been redecorated and refurbished, and given
an immaculate finish.
“We have changed everything from the carpets to the bathrooms,”
he says. “In many ways it seems like a completely different house to
the one we bought – it has a very modern feel now.”
The bespoke kitchen is particularly splendid. With high gloss wall
and floor-mounted units, together with light granite work surfaces,
it has been fitted with Neff appliances including an integral larder
fridge and freezer, five-ring induction hob, warming draw, oven,
combination oven, wine cooler and coffee maker.
“Everything was finished to the highest quality. We wanted it to last
and to look good,” he says.
WELCOMING FRIENDS
The layout of the house is conducive to entertaining and over the
nine years the couple have enjoyed welcoming friends and family
into their home.
“There is plenty of space here and it is very easy to move from
room to room,” he says. “We can accommodate overnight guests
as we have five bedrooms, four of which are doubles.”
Indeed, in addition to the master suite, there are four more
bedrooms on the first floor, together with a family bathroom. One
of the guest rooms has an en suite shower room.
“We have entertained a lot in the garden,” he says. “We have two
sets of doors opening on to the large terrace and have had high
end lighting and sockets fitted outside so we can sit out into the
evening, listening to music.”
LIVELY CAERPHILLY
They have enjoyed the convenience of the location, as well as the
privacy. Caerphilly is a vibrant town with a good selection of shops,
cafés and restaurants. It has a train station and a bus service.
“We also drive into Cardiff frequently, which takes us about 10
minutes,” he says. “And we go into London quite often, which is
very easy either by rail or train: we are only about 15 minutes from
the M4.”
He adds: “This is a great area for families as it feels very safe and is
close to schools and other amenities. This house could be ideal for
someone with children – there is so much space and everything has
been finished to a high standard, ready for the next owners to
enjoy.”

Setting The Scene

The house on Hazel Grove is set back, with a drive to the front. This
is block paved and has parking for several vehicles. To the rear there
is a large terrace area from the house. This offers generous space
for outside entertaining. The garden is tiered, with steps lead up to a
lawned area, where there is further seating. The garden is fenced off.
