The Story

BEAUTIFUL SPACE
Built in 1998, as one of a number of unique, individually designed
houses on Marine Walk, at Ogmore-by-Sea, the detached property
has been home to the current owners for six years. With generous
accommodation and a flexible layout, it makes a great family home
and is ideal for multi-generational living.
“I remember walking into it for the first time, seeing the view and
coming through into the kitchen dining room,” she recalls. “I
thought it was wonderful; I loved the space it offered, especially the
kitchen as I knew I would spend a lot of time in there!”
SELF-CONTAINED LIVING
Most of the accommodation is on the upper storey, which is at first
floor level from the front but opens on to the garden at the back, as
it is set on a slope.
“This arrangement means you could have downstairs as a separate
annexe,” she explains. “I currently use this floor for my workshop
and office, which is great as I can leave everything out, but when we
first moved here my daughter had it as her own separate area.”
This level comprises two rooms, which could be a bedroom and
sitting room, as well as a shower room and access to the garage,
with a door leading on to the front garden. Subject to the relevant
planning permissions, further accommodation could be created
here and integrated into the self-contained apartment.
“It could be ideal for older relatives or for guests perhaps,” she
adds.
COMFORTABLE BEDROOMS
The kitchen dining and living area is a long space, which looks out
towards the front of the house and the sea. Also at the front of the
property is the drawing room. These rooms both have doors out on
to the sunny balcony.
There is also a utility room and dining room in this part of the
property while at the back there are three bedrooms and two
bathrooms. Two guest rooms share a Jack-and-Jill bathroom while
the master bedroom has an en suite shower room and walk-in
wardrobe.
“I do love my bedroom,” she says. “It is a very calm space, which is
mostly decorated in neutral colours and has one accent wall in a
dark shade.”
ALL SEASONS
In the winter, the open fire is often lit in the drawing room or dinner
parties take place in the inviting dining room with its sea views. In
the summer, much of the living takes place outside.
“This is a great place for entertaining,” she says. “We have had
some fabulous parties here with people wandering between the
kitchen, drawing room and balcony. It all flows very nicely.”
She adds: “There is also an outdoor seating area at the back.”
GLORIOUS SKIES
At times, it may feel worlds away from everywhere else but it is easy
to travel from Ogmore-by-Sea, she observes.
“We can get to the motorway in just 15 or 20 minutes, which is ideal
for my husband, as he works away. We are also well-positioned for
the airport and for getting to Bridgend, Llantrisant, Cardiff or
Swansea,” she says.
“There are lots of places to go shopping yet we can also walk to
down to Ogmore beach in two minutes. This is a lovely, unspoiled
beach, which I will miss a great deal when we leave. I will also miss
watching television with the blinds open so we can also see the
sunset or sitting out on the balcony with a drink in the evening,
looking out to sea and enjoying the changing colour of the sky.”

Setting The Scene

At the front of the house is a balcony with sea views. At ground floor
level, there is off-road parking for two cars and a side lawn.
At the back of the property the rear garden also has views towards
the sea. Steps lead up to a raised decking area; there is also a
rockery with some mature shrubs and another terrace area.
