Compton is a quiet rural village set in a gentle fold of inspirational rolling Berkshire Downland countryside designated an ‘A.O.N.B.’, and conveniently placed between Newbury and Oxford enjoying excellent road and rail communications via the A34, M4 and with mainline Stations nearby at Didcot and Goring on Thames providing fast commuter services up to London (Paddington) in well under the hour.

The village is historically linked to agriculture and farming and this association with the rural way of life continues today.  Also Compton has a long history of breeding and training thoroughbred racehorses with Racing stables still existing in the village.

Nowadays the village boasts a local shop open 7 days. Modern Health Centre, a barbershop, the newly refurbished Swan Hotel offering all day refreshments and a restaurant.

Importantly there is a wide range of private and state schools in the local area notably including the much acclaimed, ‘Outstanding’ rated Downs secondary school with 6th Form in Compton itself and also been rated as ‘Outstanding’ is the Compton Church of England Primary School.

Meadow Close is a quiet cul de sac of properties dating from the middle 1980’s located in an elevated position off Hockham Road and within easy reach of the central shop and amenities and both the Primary and The Downs secondary schools.

A traditionally built semi-detached house having red brick elevations with decorative detailing including sloped brick window sills and soldier coursing above, under a pitched and half hipped pan tile roof.

In more recent years the property has undergone a thorough refurbishment programme including the joining together of the Kitchen and Dining Room to form a more useable larger room with a pleasant aspect over the private rear garden and timber decked terrace.

The custom designed Kitchen has stylish floor and wall units, a ceramic sink unit and integrated built-in equipment. The adjoining Dining Area has French doors opening onto a decked terrace and the rear garden, and there is quality oak flooring throughout.

On the first floor the refitted Bathroom has a contemporary 3 piece white suite with a shower over the bath, and, wall and floor tiling. Other features include new co-ordinated light and power sockets and switches, oil fired wall combi boiler, new oil tank, uPVC pdg windows and doors throughout, new panelled interior doors with matching furniture, and a fresh new décor theme throughout.

The property has a favourable location overlooking a spacious lawned Green enclosed by a high mixed country hedge and a number of specimen trees including silver birch extending along the frontage with Hockham Road providing a private and secluded aspect with a stunningly colourful display, especially in autumn. A pedestrian access pathway off the Close leads to the front entrance.

Across the front of the house set behind a clipped country hedge is a small landscaped garden with winding pathway leading to a side gate which gives access through to the rear garden.

The rear garden enjoys a private aspect with a decked terrace adjoining the house and lawn beyond. Forming the rear boundary is the flank wall of the brick built Garage which has a pitched tile roof and electric roller door and fronts onto the Close. There is a side pedestrian door and fitted light and power internally.

Services: Mains water, electricity and drainage are connected.  Central heating and hot water is from a HRM oil fired wall combi boiler.
