Kemble Station (London Paddington 77 minutes approx.) is about 9 miles or alternatively Chippenham (from 73 minutes). Junction 17 of the M4 at Swindon is about 10 miles.
The area is noted for its schools. There are a number of good primary schools nearby and Malmesbury School is particularly well regarded. Private schools within daily driving distance include Westonbirt, Beaudesert Park and the Cheltenham Colleges.
A good range of sporting opportunities in the area include various golf courses. The area has long been associated with equestrian pursuits, including Badminton and Gatcombe horse trials, racing at Cheltenham and polo at Westonbirt and Cirencester.
Many good walks in the area and the famous Westonbirt Arboretum is about 5 miles away.
