York House occupies the majority part of this splendid house and is in a prime level position just a short distance into the centre of this bustling town with its banks, restaurants and wine bars. There are good schools for children of all ages in the area. The property has views towards a cricket field and nearby there are excellent recreational pursuits including boating on the River Thames and Foxhills Golf and Country Club a short distance away. There are flights both domestic and international from nearby Heathrow Airport (16.5 miles) and the M3, M4 and M25 motorway networks are all close at hand.

This interesting Grade II listed period home dates back in parts to the 15th Century and is steeped in History. In its time, it has been a brewery, a village inn and a girls boarding school. The property has been substantially improved over recent years by an Architect and the current owner has finished making this into a fabulous family home of immense character with very adaptable accommodation for live in staff and/ or relatives. York House offers three storeys of character accommodation and although the House is technically attached it feels completely independent of the neighbouring property helped by looking onto its own beautifully maintained part walled garden. The house has two self contained annexes and oozes charm with lovely old Fireplaces and doors, exposed beams, corridors, shutters etc but comes with modern day comfort. These include gas heating (3 boilers), double glazing and modern bathrooms. The kitchen which overlooks the rear garden has been refitted in 2012 by Aspect. It is a bespoke room with vaulted ceiling. There are matching wall and base cupboards in Walnut and Maple by Edwin Loxley and polished Granite work tops including an Island Unit. There is a Falcon 5 burner Gas cooker and an original pantry with stone shelves and down lighters highlighting the beams. The family room has a sash window with shutter to the front and a fine cast iron fireplace. The fine Dining room has two sash windows to the front and a cast iron fireplace with slate hearth and half height timber panelling to the walls and exposed beams. The drawing room has two large sash
windows overlooking the gardens and a grand Fireplace. The first floor galleried landing has a display alcove to the half landing and a staircase leads up to the top floor suite. The master bedroom measures a generous 17' x 15'5 and has an extensive range of fitted wardrobe cupboards and door to a luxury en-suite bathroom with a large double ended bath. All of the bedrooms are of a generous size and on the top floor one can find bedroom five with a Napoleon cast iron fireplace. A door leads to the Attic suite which has a vaulted ceiling, exposed beams and floorboards. There is a kitchen, bathroom with roll top bath and bedroom.

The gardens are quite beautiful being walled and level and comprise of mainly
lawn with well stocked flower borders, high period walls giving the garden a
classic English country feel with rose walk beneath an oak Arbour with plum,
pear and apple trees to the side with external lighting. There is a Jacuzzi hot
tub in the Summer House and two timber sheds. The swimming pool has a
timber changing room with hot and cold power and external heated shower.
The double garage has twin up and over doors, power and light. The cobbled
courtyard is approached via electronically operated Oak gates.
