Full description

Burnfoot Cottage is a traditional 3 bedroom cottage sitting on the banks of the beautiful Loch Striven in the private Glen Striven Estate. The south facing property enjoys panoramic over the loch and to the surrounding hills and glens and occupies over 2 acres of land with a slipway marking the east border of the land giving access to the loch and a spectacular burn with waterfall marking the west boundary. There is a secluded trout pool to the left of the cottage fed by the burn.
In addition, the property benefits from a newly built boat house with a large area for boats and equipment with 2 further storage areas. The boat shed has electric and water services.
The property is tucked away behind trees and rhododendrons giving seclusion to the rear off the track and wonderful open views to the front. The main entrance is via the boot room/porch which leads into the sitting room/ kitchen and dining area which look out to the loch and the master bedroom with ensuite leading off to the dressing room. A further 2 bedrooms and main bathroom are just off the hallway as is a separate WC. The central heating is oil fired and the windows are double glazed.
The property benefits from having a boat house located just off the track to the rear and has double doors to house a couple of boats along with all the equipment that goes along with it along with 2 other stores rooms with shelving inside. There is the possibility of developing the boat house for residential use after gaining the required planning consent.
The traditional resort town of Dunoon sits on the Cowal Peninsula in Argyll on the west coast of Scotland. Accessible by both land and sea, the trip to Dunoon can either be a ferry crossing over the Firth of Clyde, considered to be one of the best sailing areas in the world, or by a drive through spectacular scenery of dramatic mountains and lochs, each more breathtaking than the last. The area boasts a full calendar of events from food and music festivals to sailing regattas and a Highland Gathering reputed to be the largest and most spectacular in the world. Dunoon itself boasts many bars, coffee shops and restaurants offering local seafood as well as a high street of mainly independent shops offering a refreshingly different shopping experience. Benmore Botanic Garden is well worth a visit with its walled garden, imposing Giant Sequoia trees and hillside walks affording views over Holy Loch, renowned for its shipbuilding tradition and which, for many years, was a US Navy submarine base. With excellent walking, sailing and scenery to be enjoyed, and Glasgow just an hour and a half’s drive away, there is something to delight everyone in this truly beautiful part of Scotland.
On arrival at Glasgow Airport, take the M8 west which runs into the A8, head for Greenock and then Gourock and look for the signs for Western Ferries at McInroy’s Point. This ferry, which does not require pre-booking runs every half hour from 6am or 6.30am (depending on season) until 10.30pm, where after the last ferry is midnight). This will bring you to Hunters Quay, Dunoon, from the ferry terminal turn left and continue through Dunoon, the villages of Innellan and Toward on the A815 until the road finishes at a red telephone box and the entrance to Glenstriven Estate.
