Description

History
Yew Tree Manor is an enchanting period farmhouse thought to have been built in the 1680's and once part of the Duke of Sutherland's Estate. There is very little written evidence about the house prior to 1900s and Newport History Society have conducted research in the hope of uncovering further information. Research produced various artefacts but little definitive written history.

Description
Yew Tree Manor retains a wealth of original and later period features, such as the exposed timber frame which is visible through the central portion of the house, wide oak floor boards noted particularly on the staircase and first floor landing. The key reception rooms feature open fire places and there are panelled doors throughout the house and two of the bedrooms also feature fireplace surrounds.

The front porch opens into a central dining hall, most likely an original part of the house. It features a large open fire to one side as well as exposed beams, a polished quarry tile floor, polished oak staircase and front door. The dining hall leads to two further reception rooms on either side of the house; one being a study/sitting room and the other the large formal drawing room, as well as the kitchen breakfast room. Accessed from the drawing room is a large garden room which overlooks the rear walled yard with views beyond over the paddocks.
Both the drawing room and sitting room have further open fireplaces.

The kitchen/breakfast room is located to the rear of the property and is fitted with a range of wall and base units. It also features the original timber frame as well as a bay window with doors leading on to a terrace. A cloakroom and useful utility and boot room complete the ground floor.

On the first floor the master bedroom benefits from a vaulted
ceiling with exposed beams and a large en-suite bathroom with a
corner bath and separate shower. In addition there are four further bedrooms and a large family bathroom.

Outside
The gardens are a particularly attractive feature of Yew Tree Manor and our clients have invested and developed the gardens with extensive planting over many years. In the past, they have opened the gardens for Newport in Bloom.

A gravel driveway leads to the front of the house and garaging
providing parking for several vehicles. The attractive front facade is enhanced by a flowering wisteria. To the front of the house is a large lawn to one side under the canopy of the mature cooper beech.

A block paved terrace is accessed from the kitchen/breakfast room, providing space for outdoor entertaining with a timber frame pergola to one side, as well as a small pond and potting shed. Steps lead to the more formal planted gardens comprising of lawn, mature flower beds and a bridge crossing a small stream.
Immediateley to the rear of the house is a walled yard with flowering borders and access to the coal shed.
