Our Time Here - We were living in a small house in Sandwich and needed a larger home for our growing family when we came across this property over 30 years ago. The lady who was selling this property was downsizing so we swapped! St. Georges Road has always been a sought after area, and this was ideal for us.
The house had four bedrooms when we bought it and we built a large extension, adding a master bedroom, dining room and a garage. The kitchen is probably our favourite room, it's the hub of the home and we mainly eat in here when it is just the two of us, but it leads onto the large dining room where we enjoy meals with the whole family when they all come to visit.
St George's Road is close enough to easily walk to the shops and the station, but far enough out of the town for a peaceful atmosphere and ease of parking. This house has off-road parking for 2 or 3 cars, but the street is quiet and allows for on-road parking too when we have more visitors. Our children all went to Sir Roger Manwood's School, which is within easy walking distance, and is an excellent Grammar school. They were very happy there and all went on to study at university.
This has been a marvelous family home for us, but would be equally wonderful for people who like a spacious property for entertaining, as the rooms and layout lend themselves particularly well for dinner parties and gatherings of various types. Being near to several golf courses, we have let the house out on four occasions for the Open Golf at Royal St Georges.
As our family home, we have many wonderful memories of our time here, especially having our grandchildren for Christmas and summer holidays in more recent years. Now that our 3 children have grown up and have their own families it is just the two of us here and we have decided that now is the right time for us to downsize. We want to stay in Sandwich if we can, but this location will be hard to beat!
