Interesting Facts about Boscombe :

In late Victorian times it was considered to be one of the most desirable Bournemouth suburbs,  with many grand properties, one of which was Shelley Park – home to poet Sir Percy Florence Shelley (whose mother Mary Shelley was best known for her Gothic novel Frankenstein).

Boscombe Pier was opened in September 1888 at a cost of £3,813 . The pier was 200 yards (180 m) long and is still one of the main features of the coastal landscape.
