Indeed, its location, just off the A66 trunk route and only two miles from Keswick, make the village a magnet for tourists and walkers alike, enjoying the superb fell walking and a multitude of excellent pathways, all of which to fill the accommodation. Castlerigg stone circle, which is over 4,000 years old lies on the other side of Keswick and Ullswater and Thirlmere are within easy, making Braithwaite a superb centre to tour this lovely area.
Oakvale self-catering was acquired by the present owners in 2007 and during their ownership they have carefully and tastefully upgraded this delightful self-catering holiday accommodation. All the properties kitchens and bathrooms have either been replaced or upgraded, and virtually all of the furnishings and carpets have been replaced as well as a complete redecoration. This has been recognised by Visit Britain with their coveted 4 star Gold Award for Excellence, something the owners are immensely proud of. The owners have been very proactive with marketing and also have a modern website giving enhanced book-ability and an excellent level of all-year round trade. Having brought up their family in such a lovely area, the owners are now looking to retire from the business to continue to live locally.
Of rendered, single storey construction and under a pitched slate roof, the accommodation is laid out on ground floor but with split-level accommodation to one of the two smaller holiday apartments.
