15 Queen Anne's Gate was originally known as 8 Queen Square, as the road we see today was divided into two cul-de-sacs, known as Queen Square and Park Street.

The houses in Queen Square were the first to be constructed and date from 1704. During this time Park Street was home to the Royal Cock-Pit, hence 'Cock-Pit Steps', which today lead pedestrians down to Birdcage Walk at the end of the street. The houses in Park Street were constructed in the 1770s and in 1874 the wall dividing the two cul-de-sacs came down with the two roads renamed Queen Anne's Gate. Notable past residents of the street include singer Sting, Lords Colchester, Guernsey, Dartmouth and Derby; Lords Grey, North and Palmerston, painters Joshua Reynolds and Jonathan Richardson, philosopher Jeremy Bentham and inventor Brunel.
