Situation - Llechweddygarth is situated in the heart of Mid Wales, close to the village of Llangynog, which is approximately 12 miles equidistant from Bala and Llanfyllin.
The Tanat Valley is renowned for Hill Walking and Hiking, Pony Trekking and Fishing, being close to both Lakes Bala and Vyrnwy.
The Hall at Llechweddygarth occupies a magical elevated position approximately 650ft above sea level overlooking Moel-di-Moel and the adjoining hill ranges, in a private secluded valley at the end of which is the historic church at St. Melangell which is believed to date back to the 12th Century.
The Hall - It is situated at the end of a tarmacadam driveway which is approximately 1 mile long and has excellent southerly views. It is a Grade II Listed Building which can be traced back to the later 16th Century. Traces of timber framing delineate a house at least of main range and cross wing type; and perhaps larger. Timberwork suggests significant enlargement in the later 17th Century, but this process was substantially completed by an 18th Century reworking to give it a simple gothic external character. The house was changed again in 1907 by Clough Williams Ellis, with some internal reordering and the addition of a two storied extension between the advanced wings and is principally constructed of stone and half timbering. It provides spacious accommodation as described in the following pages.

Woodland - The woods at Llechweddygarth are a mixture of hardwoods and softwoods. There is a planted ancient woodland and two ancient woodland sites. The total area is 120 acres. The woods are used primarily for pheasant shooting as well as timber production.
There are two areas of ancient semi-natural wood in the main forestry block at Llechweddygarth and the pheasantry to the north of Tydynn-yr-Helig, to the south west of the main block is a planted ancient woodland (3 hectares). The Vendors have regularly thinned the woods and removed rhododendrons from the pheasantry under a Woodland Improvement Scheme. They have also restocked areas with broadleaves and all the woods are livestock excluded.
The woods are mainly on a steep south facing slope of River Tanat to the west of Llangynog and altitude ranges from 200-500m. They are in an area of High Landscape Value.
There is no current management plan with the Forestry Commission (Wales).
Sporting Rights - Llechweddygarth is considered to be one of the best high pheasant shoots in Wales and the sporting rights are currently let to Mr Robert Bennett Jones.
The renowned drives known as The Ochr, Green Wood, Jet Run, Dingle, The Quarry, Bracken Bank, Warren and The Oaks have consistently produced classic high flying pheasants which have flown across the valleys at great velocity.
The Sporting Rights over the whole Estate are in hand and in addition there are registered Sporting Rights over an additional 3000 acres which creates great potential for further extension and development of the shoot if desired.
