SITUATION
Compton is a charming village, that is well positioned for Guildford and Godalming, is close to the A3 to London and the south coast and is only 45 minutes to London on the train (from Farncombe). Compton has retained much of its character, it has two conservation areas, is in Surrey Hills AONB and is within Green Belt. There are 31 listed buildings including an ancient 10th Century Church (St Nicholas) an English Heritage cemetery (Watts Cemetery) and is the only village in the UK with a National Art Gallery dedicated to a single Artist. The current population is approximately 1000 and there are less than 400 properties. The village has an excellent Public House (the Withies Inn), a very popular Thai restaurant (Lemongrass at what was the Harrow) and a number of facilities for hire as well as an eclectic mix of small shops.

DESCRIPTION
The Old Congregational Church was built in 1929, its origins believed to stem from the non-conformist movement during the last century, when the wife of the great Victorian artist G.F Watts (1817-1904) laid it foundation stone on the 27 March. Mary Watts was George Frederic Watt second wife, who was also an artist and deeply involved with the Home Arts and Industries Association. She founded the Compton Potters Arts Guild, producing terracotta garden ornaments. She also designed Watts Cemetery Chapel when Compton Parish Council bought the land for a new cemetery in 1895. To this day, over one hundred paintings and sculptures are on permanent display of her husband work at The Watts Gallery nearby. Spanning a period of 70 years, it is unique in the UK being the only purpose-built art gallery created for the display of works by a single artist. The property is an incredibly attractive detached double fronted property enhanced by many character features including Georgian style sash...
