Architect's Comment
The aspiration for the site is to provide a new contemporary country house, deeply rooted in a layered landscape scheme by acclaimed landscape architect Ann Marie Powell.

We have designed a series of crystalline render frames which order views over the magnificent countryside and to create a set piece design ordered on a series of linear vistas and spacial sequences. Within these frames principle architectural device was conceived as a continuous timber edifice which is cut and carved to form the main dwelling, pool house and garage/office.

The masonry fireplace punctuates the frame to provide a threshold between the living room and kitchen / dining space and define the master bedroom.

The extensive accommodation is designed to relate to the various garden themes from formal arrival courts and lawns to informal kitchen gardens and forest boardwalks.
