Having spent some time in Scandinavia, I was impressed with their house design, its rapid construction and superior build quality. 30 years ago as my wife and I considered a pre and post retirement house, the opportunity came to put this into practice with a Danish timber frame house. From foundations to roof on, in three days was impressive. We have not been disappointed with the thoughtful details that have enhanced the low energy construction, quality build, and led to 30 years of very comfortable living and low heating bills. Overlooking the Leeds/Liverpool canal at the bottom of the garden and the Worth Valley in the distance, there is an ever changing vista. Now as age has progressed further, the time to downsize to a flat has come. We will miss this house but hope that a new owner will be found who will enjoy the comfort and quietness of the house, allied to low maintenance. It is in a pleasant neighbourhood, with good access to facilities and transport


Located on the sunny side of the Aire valley in the quiet and desirable area of Riddlesden with the Leeds to Liverpool canal at the end of the garden, A huge expanse of open moorland is nearby, offering exercise and views in plenty. The property is also close to the popular holiday and visitor destination of East Riddlesden Hall (c1642) with its Medieval Tithe barn, now part of the National Trust. Steam trains can be seen from the house ascending the Worth Valley Railway, and accessing the Bronte Country and Haworth.

Riddlesden is ideally situated for access to work and leisure. Frequent electric trains travel from Keighley and Crossflatts stations, to Leeds and Bradford and a once daily train to London Kings Cross and return. The property is well positioned for road access to the motorways, business and shopping centres of West Yorkshire and East Lancashire.

Trains to the North lead to the market town of Skipton, Lancaster, Morecambe, and the famous Settle Carlisle railway line. Twenty minutes drive crosses the boundary of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and its majestic and diverse scenery and recreational facilities. A little further afield is the English Lake District, an easy day trip.
