A beautiful detached Victorian villa with stunning views

Development first began at Kilcreggan in 1840 when the use of steamers on the Clyde made it more accessible. Located on the tip of the Roseneath Peninsula the first houses were used only as summerhouses, but as time went on, permanent occupation took place. As roads and vehicles developed, steamer traffic declined, and one by one, the piers closed. Today, Kilcreggan Pier remains the only traditional pier on the Clyde still in daily use. The bank of this stretch of the Firth of Clyde has a rich architectural heritage of Victorian mansions and grand houses built in the Scots Baronial style. Famous architects such as Alexander 'Greek' Thomson, William Leiper and John Honeyman were among many to build impressive homes here for wealthy clients.

Today, many such homes remain, with villagers commuting to Glasgow in around an hour, either by road, or by ferry, with a journey time of around fifteen minutes to Gourock. Glasgow Airport can be reached in around 45 minutes under normal driving conditions. Kilcreggan has its own primary school while the nearest secondary school is at Helensburgh, the closest town (16 miles), where Lomond School also provides excellent private schooling at primary and secondary level. Helensburgh is regarded as one of Scotland's most desirable towns, with excellent local shopping, a swimming pool and golf course and Rhu Marina nearby. Cove, the adjoining village to Kilcreggan, has a thriving social and sailing scene, with a Burgh Hall, tennis and bowling clubs and excellent facilities for younger sailors to learn on Loch Long. Loch Lomond and the world renowned Loch Lomond Golf Club are within 23 miles. Some of Britain's most testing sailing waters are to be found on Scotland's west coast.

A short walk from The Grove to the centre of Kilcreggan one can find the local hotel, Post Office, butchers, general store, sweet shop, bank, cafe, hairdressers, garage, a small antique shop, garden centre and a Doctors surgery.

The Grove is a beautifully appointed detached Victorian villa with stunning views over the Firth of Clyde from all rooms to the front of the house. The property benefits from a driveway to the front which leads to the front door and reception hall. On the ground floor the accommodation consists of a formal drawing room, sitting room, dining room and breakfasting kitchen. There is also a utility room and porch leading to the back garden. There are two bedrooms and a shower room to the rear of the ground floor; this part of the house could be used as a guest wing or separate holiday let. Upstairs, there are four double bedrooms, a family bathroom and shower room. The views from all the rooms to the front of the house are truly stunning. The property also benefits from a large front and back garden. The back garden benefits from partial decking and is ideal for outside entertaining when the sun is shining. The property is also south facing.
