IN THE OWNER'S WORDS
"Tredethy House is a unique property we fell in love with so much we decided to move. Peaceful and quiet, amidst wonderful nature and grounds to be discovered with original planting so typical of the Heritage Cornish gardens with blooms of flowers from Spring to early Autumn. It is a magical place to bring up a family, while running an exciting business in an unforgettable location. The size is just right and the location is ideal. The time our family has spent here has been an unforgettable experience."
An elegant Cornish house sitting on the brow of the Camel Valley offering fine rural views in a very convenient and popular location.
Extended in the late 1800's by the renowned Cornish architect Silvanus Trevail, the properties' origins are believed to be 15th century. Character abounds such as a magnificent carved staircase, shuttered bay windows, Victorian tessellated tiled floor, barrelled ceiling, fine cornicing, decorative ceilings and period fireplaces throughout. This historic home has been well maintained and updated by the current owners who have created a comfortable and charming guest house.
Steps lead up from the drive to an entrance porch which opens into a magnificent reception room which serves as the guest sitting room. To one side is the dining room which has a large bay window overlooking the garden and a superb carved granite fireplace with an inset wood burner. To the opposite side of the hall is a lounge, itself with a bay window and fireplace, and a bar area. A door leads from this room in to the large conservatory. From the sitting room guests go through to the inner hall which has a beautiful wide staircase which leads up to the bedrooms.
There are 10 en-suite bedrooms arranged over the first and second floors, a family suite with 2 bedrooms and bathroom and a communal library room.
The 'working' side of the house includes a commercial kitchen a separate larder area and prep room. There is a laundry room and store, and a two further rooms joined by a lobby which are currently used as a storage area, but could potentially be converted into a further guest family suite.
