The woodland is designated by Hampshire County Council as a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC).

East Hampshire Borough Council have confirmed there are no Tree Preservation Orders within the woodland.

Access:
The woodland is accessed via a Byway Open To All Traffic (BOAT), which adjoins the southern boundary of the wood and adjoins Woodcroft Lane to the south west, as shown in brown on the site plan. There is pedestrian access off James Copse Road and a private 3ft pedestrian right of way to the south of 11a Ashley Close as in blue on the site plan.
