LOCATION Malltraeth is a village located on the south west coast of the Isle of Anglesey, on the banks of the River Cefni and overlooking the fabulous Malltraeth estuary. The village has local amenities which include a fish & chip shop/convenience store, a public house and primary school whilst also being situated on a bus route. Access to the main A55 expressway can be made at junction 6 making commuting easy to the port of Holyhead, Llangefni and the mainland. Llangefni offers bustling trade with numerous shops, retailers and supermarkets as well as leisure facilities, schools and further education facilities. This corner of the island has wonderful sandy beaches and woodland at Newborough and Llanddwyn Island. The mile long embankment or Cob is situated nearby over which the Anglesey coastal path and cycle track runs, offering some120 miles of coastal pathways to enjoy. This structure is part of the flood defence system completed in 1812 when the River Cefni was canalised, enabling the Cefni Marsh to be a managed nature reserve and a designated (SSSI) Site of Special Scientific Interest, and is the location of an RSPB reserve. Malltraeth was the village that the renowned wildlife painter Charles Tunnicliffe moved to in 1947, and established his studio, overlooking the Cefni Estuary making it one of the UK's foremost bird watching centres.
