Tenure: Freehold

This delightful neo Georgian detached executive home built in 1970 is just over thirty yards from the seafront at Westbrook with its grassy clifftop and direct access to the award winning Westbrook Bay. Driving through the wrought iron gates into the sweeping in and out driveway you are immediately struck by the elegance of the property, flanked by a single garage on one side and a double garage on the other. The feeling is further enhanced when you walk through the porch into the spacious entrance hall with its staircase, galleried landing and panelled doors to the reception rooms and particularly when you see the large lounge, a great place to entertain your friends as you can have a pre dinner drink in the lounge and then walk directly into the dining room through double glazed doors. For ease of serving the dining room can also be accessed from the attractive kitchen/breakfast room with its island breakfast bar, built in oven and hob, microwave and dishwasher as well as double doors to a large pantry. This, in turn, leads to a vast utility room that includes a shower so anyone coming back from a day on the beach can get rid of the sand before venturing into the rest of the house. There is also a large study next to a cloakroom that is big enough to be converted into a shower room. So if you had an elderly relative it would be possible to create a bedroom and en suite facilities and use the understairs space as a study area. Upstairs you will be delighted with the spaciousness of the four beautifully presented bedrooms, the fascinating bathrooms and the balcony off the landing where you can sit and look at the skies so admired by Turner. There is also access from the landing to the partially boarded loft, providing plenty of extra storage space. Indeed, overall the property includes plenty of storage facilities with three of the bedrooms incorporating built in wardrobes. The master bedroom has a bay window and sea views as well as a memorable en suite bathroom with Portuguese tiles and colourful sanitaryware while the family bathroom offers equally interesting decor. You will want to spend much of your time in the easy to maintain and secluded garden.

What the Owner says:

“We have lived in this lovely house for nearly thirty years and it will be a wrench to move but it is now too big for us and we need to downsize. It has been a wonderful family home as well as a great place to entertain our friends and we have many happy memories of parties and dinners. It is also very quiet and peaceful when you sit in the garden and all you hear are the birds. We have enjoyed updating the property over the years including installing skirting heating under the bay windows in the lounge and two bedrooms as we felt this made the rooms and the decor more plea.
We have always been delighted with the location enabling family and friends to get down to the beach within a couple of minutes. There is also a slipway so you can launch a boat or a jet ski and the vast grass clifftop is ideal for a brisk walk or cycle ride. In fact you can cycle the 32 mile stretch of coastline from Ramsgate to Reculver via the Viking Coastal Trail.
Westgate town centre is not far away with its unique parade of individual, canopied shops as well as Indian and Chinese restaurants and Blue Flag St Mildred's and West Bay. There is a mainline station, a very good and inexpensive local cinema as well as a bowls and tennis club while the Westgate and Birchington golf club is easily accessible. Margate with its Turner Gallery, Old Town and Dreamland is a little over a mile and we have a 24 hour Marks and Spencer food store within half a mile so you can always get something to eat and drink".
