Full description

Detached recently refurbished four bedroomed property in Saltford with open plan kitchen diner and bi-fold doors to the garden, garage, gardens and balcony with far reaching views.

“A 1930s property which had had very little done to it since it was built, we set about transforming this old fashioned quirky house into a lovely, light, bright, modern home,” says the owner of this four bedroom detached property in Uplands Road, Saltford. “Positioned in the ideal situation with fantastic views, all the house needed was some creative redesign and tender loving care! As well as basic rewiring and gas works we opened up the kitchen and dining room to create a beautiful light and airy open plan space with stunning bespoke units; the designer, Richard of Hobsons Choice, used to be an architect – and when he saw the room and view, he just totally understood what to do.”

“Bi-fold doors from the dining room open onto the garden, so the whole downstairs is flooded with light with views right through from the kitchen into the dining room and out into the garden. The drawing room has a huge bay window overlooking the garden, so is also very bright, and roomy enough for easy entertaining. The large kitchen diner is where I spend most of my time, whether on a day to day basis or when entertaining friends over a casual dinner or drinks.”

“Upstairs we changed the family bathroom into an en-suite for the main guest bedroom (which has stunning views) and created a new large modern shower room from an old cupboard area. I love to sit out on the balcony from the upstairs bedroom on a sunny morning with a cup of coffee just taking in the views. It feels like living in the Mediterranean! We also replaced the old blocked in banisters with glass – further adding to the airy feel of the house.”

“The spacious garden abounds with planting so there is always something in bloom,” says the current owner. “The previous owner had agricultural students plant a massive variety of different species, which I myself have supplemented with some new planting. The seating areas outside are real suntraps and are lovely places to sit and enjoy the superb views in utter quiet and tranquillity.”

Located in the friendly village of Saltford with easy access to the dynamic cultural hubs of Bath and Bristol, the property sits amidst the rolling slopes of neighbouring fields. “This is a fabulous area in which to live,” says the owner, “as the village really does have everything, from four pubs all within walking distance (all dog friendly), two of which overlook the river, to the best Thai restaurant for miles around. There is a chemist, doctors’ surgery, dentist, vet, supermarket, library, barber’s, hairdresser’s and now even a fantastic little coffee shop. The village hall hosts all sorts of activities, from theatre groups, flower club, choir, to the more energetic classes such as Pilates, yoga, and tennis. There is a real sense of community, and the neighbours are very welcoming. The local area was so much more than I expected – really friendly, so many social activities, and everything you could want within walking distance or a short car drive. There are also very regular bus services going towards Bath and Bristol, and it is easy distance from Bristol Airport.”

“I will miss the lovely feeling of the house itself, so wonderful in summer, yet cosy and warm in winter. It is just such a lovely place to be.”
