Full description

Low Eldrig is situated on a Sporting Estate in the centre of the Rhins of Galloway Peninsula, with Luce Bay a few miles to the east and the Irish Sea a few miles to the west. Surrounded by open farmland with stunning views and numerous beaches close by Low Eldrig would make an ideal base for a holiday and could easily be used as a holiday home. There are pheasant pens on a track to the rear or the property which are maintained by the Estate Game Keeper, and activity on the Estate is increased during the shooting season between October and February. The access road to Low Eldrig is private and maintenance costs are shared with other users.

The charming single storey cottage is constructed of stone and brick under a pitched slate roof and was renovated about 20 years ago. The cottage is double glazed throughout.

Port Logan is a peaceful hamlet set in a stunning coastal location with a beach, picturesque harbour, and the worlds oldest Marine Life Centre Logan Fish Pond.

Primary schools, village shops, and GP's surgeries are all available in the nearby villages of Drummore and Sandhead. The Mull of Galloway Lighthouse is just 10 miles away, at the Mull of Galloway you can climb the Lighthouse, visit the Exhibition of Lighthouse History, walk around the RSPB Scotland nature reserve, enjoy food and drink at Scotland's most southerly coffee house Gallie Craig.

The nearby picturesque coastal village of Portpatrick is a favourite tourist spot with fishing harbour and seaside restaurants. For golf enthusiasts there is a superb 18 hole course at Stranraer designed by 5 times Open champion James Braid, set amidst beautiful scenery and several other courses in the area including the championship courses on the Ayrshire Coast. Stranraer provides a variety of shops, supermarkets, schools and other services including a Leisure Centre.

The Solway Coastline provides an abundance of opportunities for sailing and sea-fishing, and there is a harbour in Portpatrick as well as Stranraer, which now also boasts a new marina. The South West of Scotland is well known for its mild climate, attractive unspoilt countryside and for the diversity of its sporting and recreational pursuits. The area boasts several gardens open to the public such as the nearby Logan Botanic gardens, the gardens at Castle Kennedy as well as Glenwhan garden. The Galloway Forest and Galloway Hills both offer exceptional walking, and cycling, and the recent designation of the Galloway Forest Park as the first Dark Skies park outside of the USA has enhanced the leisure opportunities. In addition there are various other sporting opportunities such as shooting and stalking as well as trout and salmon fishing on the region's numerous rivers and lochs. There is excellent sea fishing available in the area, both from the rocks along the coastline and by boat from the nearby ports of Stranraer and Portpatrick, as well as the Ayrshire coastal town of Girvan.

Regular flights to UK Airports and Continental Europe depart from Prestwick Airport approximately one and half hours drive to the north. Glasgow Airport is within two hours drive of the property. There are regular ferry services to Ireland on the high speed sea link from Cairnryan to Ireland, and train services from both Stranraer and Dumfries.
