Ullapool is approximately 50 miles to the south, as is another nearby popular town, Lochinver which is approximately 15 miles south. The capital of the Highlands, Inverness is some 99 miles to the south. The nearest railway station is at Lairg which is approximately 59 miles to the south east.
Notable pursuits in the area are trout fishing in the nearby hill lochs, sea fishing, deer stalking, walking, bird watching and numerous other outdoor pursuits. There is a daily public bus service from Dumbeg to Lochinver/Inverness.

Access track to the public road. It should be noted that there is a right of access utilised by a local fish farm.

DIRECTIONS
From Ullapool take the A837 and at Skiag Bridge turn northward on the A894. Take the next major junction left on to the B869 and after passing through the village of Drumbeg after approximately 91/2 miles from the main junction turn right signposted Culkein, Drumbeg. Croft 316 is on the right hand side of the road identified by the marketing agents' sign.
