Our Time Here - Location, location, location was the real attraction to this property. This a very light and spacious house set in a lovely country environment. It is, simply put, a beautiful setting.
Our favourite room is the master bedroom with its vaulted ceiling and large balcony, which overlooks the garden and the River Dour. We also love the kitchen/diner, a very large room with a pleasant view over the garden and river as well. It's a very social room, a great place for entertaining and people always comment how wonderful it is.
There is a very strong village community here. River has its own identity and has a real community spirit. The village benefits from all the facilities you could need such as a convenient co-op, pharmacy, post office and three very good pubs. Dover is only 1 1/2 miles away, providing easy access to London and France, yet you are in a picturesque village location. There is plenty to get involved in; a very busy WI and plenty of local sporting associations including a lawn tennis club, which I am a member of, as well as a bowling and cricket club. There are lots of gardeners fairs, along with village fetes every year, and there are an abundance of activities at The Mill, such as music evenings and cider/beer festivals.
We will always remember the wonderful wildlife here; I've had a kingfisher fly over my shoulder in the past, which is a memory I will cherish. It's a very lovely environment. We love the house and the area but we are looking to downsize now.
