The Story

NATURAL WORLD
They were also struck by how peaceful and secluded the house is. It is reached via a private lane and sits in generous grounds surrounded by trees. A favourite pastime has been spotting wildlife in the garden.
“We love sitting in the kitchen and watching deer, rabbits and birds outside. We also have a stream, so we regularly spot ducks and herons.”

A HOME FOR SUCCESS
During their time at Park Lodge the owners have seen their business grow and blossom. Working from their home office, they have been able to finish the day by strolling through into the generous living areas.
“The layout is perfect – the drawing room, dining room and kitchen all flow into each other, and both the dining room and the drawing room open on to the garden. The drawing room is probably our favourite place to spend time. In the winter we light the fire and there is space for a 7ft Christmas tree. It looks lovely with all the presents piled underneath it. It’s a very special, family-oriented time.”

STUNNING DÉCOR
They have enjoyed decorating and upgrading Park Lodge to a very high standard. They have kept the beams dark and offset this with calming neutral colours and character furniture. Bespoke touches include statement lighting in the living areas, and a mural in their daughter’s beautiful bedroom, designed by Dragons of Walton Street. In every room there is an impressive attention to detail, from Balinese sinks in a bathroom to a slate feature wall in the utility room that matches the kitchen floor.
“We love the outside of the house too – the variegated colour of the reclaimed bricks and the wisteria that grows front and back.”

A PARTY HOUSE
Over the past decade, Park Lodge has hosted some sensational parties. For the owner’s 35th birthday they had marquees in the grounds, including a bar, a dining marquee and an LED-lit dance floor in a marquee in the paddock. The couple’s wedding anniversary prompted a similar set up, while for one winter birthday the LED dance floor was placed inside, and there was a cocktail bar in the garden.
“There is room to have lots of people here without it feeling overcrowded.”
The house has also worked beautifully for dinner parties and children’s play dates, when the parents can sit and chat while the children play inside and out. Since their daughter arrived five years ago the owners have discovered that the house is perfectly suited to family life.
“Wherever our daughter is in the house or the garden, we know she is safe. She’s said her first words here, taken her first steps here – we have so many happy memories.”

HAPPY TIMES
They admit they will be sad to leave all those memories behind, but with a move to Mauritius on the horizon, they have no choice but to sell Park Lodge.
“We get a bit teary eyed when we think of selling but we have lots of photos and videos so that we can relive all those beautiful memories. The house has played a hugely significant part in our lives: we started a business here and we’ve seen it grow from strength to strength; our daughter was born here and has spent her first five years here – it’s a very happy home, and I think people pick up on that. We get so many compliments on how pleasant it feels, and even people with different taste from us seem to enjoy the décor.
“We’ve enjoyed everything about living here. It’s now time to start new memories in a new home but we will always treasure our memories of Park Lodge.”

Setting The Scene

Wisteria-clad and surrounded by trees, Park Lodge feels a world removed from the city but is within easy reach of London and Windsor. The garden and paddock are safely gated, meaning that children can play safely, and while the grounds are spacious, they are also easy to maintain.
A pretty stream runs through the grounds, and there is ample space for fun and games.
“We have enjoyed playing cricket in the paddock and on the front lawn. It’s all flat, so there is a lot of running round kicking balls and hitting tennis balls – it’s perfect for a whole range of outdoor games.”
The garden is also ideal for parties, being a sun trap throughout the day and offering plenty of space for marquees.
“We’ve had some very memorable parties with Monaco-style marquees. The garden is also the perfect place to soak up the sun and enjoy a glass of wine with friends.”
