LOCATION
The village of Hermitage lies in beautifully undulating countryside with extensive woodlands, a few miles to the North of Newbury in an A.O.N.B. on the edge of the Berkshire Downlands. The presence of a Hermit living in woods near a Well which was said to have curative powers, is reputed to have given the Village its name.

In 1874 a double track railway line was built linking Newbury to Didcot with a main village Station and a further Halt to Pinewood brickworks. The line was closed in 1964 and the Brickwork also closed down in 1967.

The Church of Holy Trinity was built in 1835 by the Vicar of Hampstead Norreys who was the personal Chaplain to Queen Adelaide the wife of William IV.  Also the Church School built in 1839 was bought by the village and converted into a fine Village Hall in 1962.

With the arrival of the M4 motorway in the 1960’s and the relatively close proximity of the access junction at Chieveley, the village became more popular and has continued to thrive and grow as a community.

In the village there is a Butchers, Post Office Stores, petrol station and convenience Store and a Hilliers Garden Centre.  Also there is a well-regarded Primary School and in the local area are an excellent range of State and Private Schools.

PROPERTY DESCRIPTION
Newly built by Fenton Homes, Stowe House is a stunning contemporary family home, built to exacting standards with high quality fixtures and fittings and a light and bright feeling throughout. Of traditional design, whilst embracing the preference for open-plan family living accommodation.

To the rear of the hall, double doors open into a magnificent Kitchen/Dining/Family Room, affording space and flexibility, and with quality fitted Kitchen with quartz worktops and a host of in-built Neff appliances. The separate Utility Room has a side door, and new washing machine & tumble dryer in-situ. Also on the ground floor is a Cloakroom, and internal door to the Garage.

An Oak & Glass staircase leads up to a central landing, off which is the Master Bedroom with built in wardrobes and en-suite Shower, second Guest Bedroom with en-suite, two further Double Bedrooms and a luxurious family Bathroom.

OUTSIDE
The house is approached over a private gravelled driveway providing ample parking and leading to the integral Garage, all bordered by an attractively landscaped front garden with lawned borders, planted beds, and laurel hedging to the frontage and side boundaries. A gated paved passageway leads up around the side of the house, where a second timber gate provides access to the rear garden. A large wide paved terrace leads directly off both the sitting room and the Kitchen via bi-folding doors, providing the perfect spot for ‘al-fresco’ dining and entertaining overlooking the principle garden which is laid to lawn, with a wide border at the rear, delightfully planted with an array of colourful specimen plants.
