Ashmire is mature, secluded and well established, the lake extends to total site area of approximately 12.2 acres (4.9 ha). The lake has a water area of 9.1 acres (3.7 ha) with an average depth of 10ft. It is understood that the lake was created from mineral extraction during the 1950's with the result that there are a number of interesting features including many islands and bays.

There are a total of 23 swims which are located on around the perimeter of the lake.

The property includes ownership to the top of the bank of the land which intents from Meadow Drove, but fishing is not possible from these banks.

Ashmire is renowned for its specimen carp fishing. There are three known 40lb plus carp, 28 30lb plus carp and a significant number of double figure carp.

There has been a policy of removing tench and restocking with carp to provide continuous stock of specimen carp. The largest common recorded is 41lbs 10oz and the largest mirror 40lbs plus, both fish were caught in 2015.

Ashmire is also renowned for its quality coarse fishing, in the last five years the following species have been caught. Perch 4lbs plus, rudd 4lbs 2oz, pike 27lbs 12oz, tench 7lbs plus, grass carp 34lbs plus and eel 10lbs plus.

Ashmire water supply is from the water table, but there is also evidence of a single spring.

Buildings
There is a separate detached storage building of timber construction and a modest facilities building providing toilet, shower and dry area used by visiting fishermen.

The Business
The fishery operates as a syndicated carp fishery. There are currently 18 members charged £350 per annum.

There is the potential to increase the revenue either through additional members or day ticket fishing, but the current owners have run the business to suit their lifestyle.
