Belmont House is a Grade II listed former Coaching Inn and Deanery nestled in the heart of the village of St. Buryan. Separate to the main house presents a wonderful business opportunity! A large shop with separate storage area but we feel this could also be converted into holiday accommodation subject to planning. This wonderful home is incredibly versatile and is currently being used as a three bed house and two bed cottage but as it is joined upstairs could easily be a five double bedroomed house as it formally was. The beautifully presented, spacious accommodation comprises lounge/ dining room with a magnificent very large inglenook, kitchen/dining room with separate AGA, utility room, W.C, second reception room, another lounge/dining area, kitchen, landing, five double bedrooms and two family bathrooms. Outside there is a private enclosed yard, ample driveway parking and a large versatile shop with separate workshop/storage area.
The village itself is a great place to live with very great community spirit and facilities, it still having its traditional village shop and post office as well as a good garage and a pub which does very good food and local ales, there is also the community house on the village recreation field which also has a fully licensed bar where different community activities happen every week, always something to do in St Buryan where Cornish community spirit is still very much alive.
Belmont House is a Grade II listed former Coaching Inn and Deanery nestled in the heart of the village of St. Buryan. The house when it was an inn, was known as the King s Arms and was listed in the coaching journals of the late 18th and 19th centuries as a clean place to stay free of lice, one of the landlords being the renowned publican smuggler John John s, before this it was the manor house for the village and before this it was the former Deanery attached to the church, at the time of King John, roughly in the year 1200 it is believed the college of priests occupied the site, as St Buryan was a collegiate church and in fact the main fireplace in the sitting room dates back to medieval times with a fine example of a medieval corbelled bread oven off to one side. The house originally had stone mullions and leaded windows and the remains of some of these were found during the restoration of the building.
