Both Tavistock and Launceston offer a complete range of day to day amenities, each having an extensive range of independent shops, supermarkets, banks, libraries and doctors. There is an array of excellent schools in the area including Kelly College and Mount House in Tavistock and Plymouth College and a large selection of private schools in and around Exeter. The area boasts an abundance of sporting and leisure opportunities; golf courses in the area include Yelverton and Whitchurch, National Hunt Racing can be found at at Newton Abbot, Exeter, Taunton and Wincanton, whilst the north and south coastlines of Devon and Cornwall offer some of the best sailing, surfing and beaches in the United Kingdom and are within easy reach. The walking along the dramatic south west coastal path and in the nearby Dartmoor National park provide breath-taking scenery, there is also excellent off-road riding in the area as well as St Leonards equestrian centre near Launceston.
