Full description

Tenure: Freehold

Strathdon is surrounded by beautiful, rich Scottish countryside with rugged moorlands, rolling hills and mountains as far as the eye can see. Set close by Speyside and within the Cairngorms National Park, Candacraig Square is surrounded by highland estates which offer a wide range of field sports including red and roe deer stalking, walked up and driven grouse shooting, pheasant and rough shooting, salmon and trout fishing, all of which can be leased by arrangement. Strathdon has a well established place on the Highland Games circuit, with the Lonach Gathering being one of the most famous games in Scotland. The Lonach Highlanders originate in Strathdon and their march through the glen in full highland garb is one of the most colourful occasions in the highland calendar. Also available nearby is winter skiing at the Lecht Ski Centre which is only 10 miles away. Balmoral, the highland retreat of the Royal Family, is only 16 miles away, just beyond Ballater.

Bellabeg, 2 miles from Candacraig, has a local shop/post office and a garage with further local amenities available in Alford. Primary schooling is provided at Strathdon Primary with secondary education provided at Alford Academy. Aberdeen is the main centre for north east Scotland and is the headquarters for many businesses related to the North Sea oil industry. The city has an excellent range of shops, schools and services.

The cottages are mid-late 18th century courtyard range cottages connected to the original coach house for Candacraig House; together they form a u shaped courtyard that has been carefully preserved to echo its period heritage.

This delightful end of terrace cottage forms part of an attractive courtyard. Deceptively spacious, the accommodation combines old with new. The external character and features are still evident, but internally the property has been extensively modernised to create a ready to move into home. Bathrooms and shower rooms are extensively tiled and the sanitary ware is a neutral white with Bristane chrome mixer showers; oak flooring has been fitted in most of the rooms and a number of radiators are column style.

Square Footage: 2,056 sq ft

Two miles beyond Bellabeg you will pass the gates to Candacraig House. The entrance to Candacraig Square can be found on the left shortly after.

From Grantown-on-Spey take the A939 south past the Lecht Ski Centre. Turn left onto the A944 which leads to Strathdon. The gates to Candacraig Square are on the right hand side after about 4 miles.
