The Story

STUNNING KITCHEN
The biggest change to the property was at the back of the house, where the owners created a spectacular kitchen breakfast room.
“We took down three internal walls to convert three rooms into one large space,” she explains. “We now have a spacious kitchen breakfast room, with a central island and breakfast bar, where we can sit up to eat. The kitchen opens into the large dining and drawing room: we worked to the same footprint but completely transformed the space.”

A WELCOMING HOME
In addition to the new kitchen, new bathrooms were installed; windows and doors were also replaced and rooms were reorganised and redecorated. Floor to ceiling wardrobes have also been added.
“It is now a very light and airy house, with a bright, open-plan feel,” she suggests. “It is a welcoming home and ideal for family life.”
On the first floor there are four double bedrooms. The master bedroom is especially large and leads into a very generous en suite bathroom, which has a double shower.
“This is a very comfortable place to have people to stay in – we recently had nine people here for the weekend and it was very easy to accommodate everyone. We sat outside in the sunshine to eat and drink, and had a lovely time.”

FRIENDS AND FAMILY
Entertaining at the house has been a sheer pleasure, she continues.
“One occasion that really stands out was when my husband won a charity dinner cooked by a Michelin-starred chef,” she recalls. “It was a wonderful evening: we brought in an extra dining table and more than 10 of us sat down to eat – the chef even brought a waiter with him!”
On warm days they have enjoyed spending time with friends out in the garden, where they have a large, sunny entertaining area.
“We completely landscaped the garden, levelling it off and creating the spacious terrace.”

OUT AND ABOUT
The location has also suited the family well. There are good schools, shops and parks within easy reach and it is quick to travel into central Northampton. The bustling town offers a good range of leisure facilities, as well as high street stores.
“We are close to everything we need,” she says. “We can travel easily to other places in the country as the M1 motorway is just 10 minutes’ drive and it is simple to get to the airport whenever we are going on holiday.”
Oakpark Close is on the edge of Northampton, within easy reach of beautiful countryside. Overstone Park Hotel, Golf and Leisure resort is just a stone’s throw away and offers a luxury health club and leisure facilities, along with its 18-hole championship golf course.
“My husband plays golf and so living here has been excellent for him,” she says. “I am a keen runner and there are so many lovely places to go in this area.”

FOND MEMORIES
One of her favourite places to visit is Pitsford Reservoir, which is popular for walking, cycling, fishing, sailing and bird-watching. With Brixworth Country Park on one side, it offers circular, well-marked hard surfaced trails through woodlands, meadows and grassland with far-reaching views over the water.
“We have loved living here and hope to find somewhere else within a 10-mile radius of this house,” she says. “We will be sad to leave, however, this was the first home we bought together and was where we lived when we had our daughter. Quite simply, it is a lovely family home.”
