The Story

HIGH QUALITY FINISH
The attractive four-bedroom home was designed and built in a beautiful barn style. It encompasses well-proportioned rooms and exceptional family living space.
“We watched the house going up, right from the footings, which was exciting,” Tracy recalls. “And because we were involved at such an early stage we were able to have some input into the design and finish of the house. We chose to have a kitchen with a Rangemaster oven, for example, and I pointed out to the architect that a home of this size should really have a utility room – so he added one. The build went well and we were very pleased with the results.”

BRIGHT AND AIRY
Since then, the couple have improved the property further and added their own little touches. About five or six years ago, for example, they added a wood-burner into the drawing room.
“We absolutely love it and wish we had done it sooner,” she admits.
Rooms have been kept very neutral in colour, with Tracy and Kevin choosing to bring colour in through their furniture and furnishings.
“We love the house being as light as possible. It was designed with lots of windows and doors on to the garden, and we like it to feel bright and airy throughout.”

SUMPTUOUS SPACES
The ground floor of the house includes the very large drawing room, a spacious family room and the kitchen breakfast room. All three of these rooms have French windows on to the garden. There is also a study, utility room and cloakroom.
Upstairs, all four bedrooms are double in size; there are also three bathrooms.
“The master bedroom has an en suite bathroom and so does the room which belongs to our eldest daughter,” she says. “I love the fact the master suite has a bathroom with both a bath and a shower in it.”

FAMILY HOME
The Old Granary has been a magnificent family home and a great place to welcome family and friends, Tracy says.
“We tend to spend a lot of our time in the kitchen dining room now although in the winter we do love to light the wood-burning stove and settle down in the drawing room. Having the family room was great when the girls were here: we had a big corner sofa in there and they could go in there with their friends to chill out. It was nice for them to have their own space,” she points out. “We have had lots of parties here over the years: 18ths, 21sts and my husband’s 50th. There was always plenty of space.”

SUPERB SURROUNDINGS
Although Glen Fields is surrounded by countryside it does only take about five minutes by car to reach the centre of Milton Keynes, with all its leisure and shopping facilities. It is also very quick to get into Newport Pagnell, where there is also a good selection of shops and amenities.
“There is a bus stop just up the road,” Tracy says. “We are just five minutes’ drive from Willen and Tongwell Lake, and in the summer we can walk there. We love the countryside and have always lived in this area so won’t be going far – we are only moving to downsize but we will take lots of memories with us. There have been so many fun times and parties, as well as the quiet moments spent watching the blue tits and woodpeckers.”

Setting The Scene

Tracy and Kevin have really enjoyed the outside space at the Old Granary. The grounds offer a high degree of privacy and include a double garage, with private driveway for between six and eight vehicles. The rear garden is south-west facing and has been landscaped.
“The garden has been a big plus for us – we love being out there,” says Tracy. “We have had it all relandscaped, with a water feature added. There is plenty of space for outside dining, and just relaxing and watching the wildlife.”

Glen Fields is set in the rural outskirts of the popular town Newport Pagnell. It is within close proximity to the town which has a variety of shops, restaurants and a variety of well regarded schools. There is a youth club, football club, churches and a great community spirit with lots going on within the town. It is also within a few miles of central Milton Keynes where you can find a huge selection of leisure activities, bars, restaurants, supermarkets and an enormous shopping centre.
