4 bedroom detached house for sale

Beckspool Road, Frenchay, Bristol, South Gloucestershire

Guide Price £675,000

Property Description

Full description

A unique and very private detached house enjoying a tucked away position just off historic Frenchay common. Offering flexible accommodation with possibility to create an annexe this is a superb family home.
Dating back to the 1850's and originally an outbuilding to the neighbouring Georgian mansion Riverwood House. The house was extended back in the 1980's and then sympathetically refurbished by the current owners over the past decade. The house today offers deceptively spacious comfortable with flexibility in how it is used and considerable character. It is worth noting the house is not listed and sits just outside the Frenchay conservation area.
Accessed via a private shared lane to the side of Riverwood House it is positioned well away from the road. A gate set into a stone wall leads to a small enclosed front garden with front door opening into a lobby with cloakroom to one side. Within this oldest part of the house is a good sized kitchen with island unit and adjoining utility room with door to the rear garden. Next to the kitchen is the main sitting room which retains a period charm with open fireplace and also has door to the rear garden. This room opens into a dining area to the front and also through to a central lobby with stairs through to the newer part of the house. To one side is a further lounge room which could if desired double up as a bedroom, and tucked away at the end a bright and airy office. The bedrooms are split over two floors with the spacious master bedroom suite on the upper floor benefitting from its own en suite bathroom. Situated below this are two further large double bedrooms and a family bathroom. The third bedroom originally had permission to form two bedrooms and this again is a possibility for the incoming buyer if desired. At the end of the lower hall a door opens internally into the large garage/workshop. Across the courtyard section of the garden is an attached office/annexe room with independent heating and its own wet room. adjacent to this is a single garage with doors to the lane and courtyard and this we feel offers possibility for a self-contained annexe if desired.
The courtyard area is secured behind an electric sliding gate and provides parking for several cars. Beyond the paved area the garden extends to an area of lawn with landscaped borders, seating and BBQ area. A potting shed adjoins the garage. The house is offered for sale with no onward chain.
A neighbouring property has recently submitted a planning application, details can be found in link below.

Frenchay grew as a village largely in Georgian times. It became popular for wealthy Bristol merchants to locate their family houses around the village green. The conservation area status of the area means the area remains pretty much unspoilt today and is still popular with Bristolians and those requiring easy access to the motorway networks. The village pub, cricket club and church all benefit from this open space.

From junction 1 on the M32 follow the signs around the ring road to Frenchay. After turning right at the first set of traffic lights take the first left turn into Beckspool Road. Follow the road past the pond on the left hand side and pull over just past the bus stop on the left in front of Riverwood House. On foot walk to the right hand side of the main house and down the lane. Just past the first garage on the right is the gate set into the wall to the front garden.
