'I fell in love with this house as soon as I walked upstairs into the big room. I love how it is like being outdoors whilst being indoors. Everything is open in the summer, with breakfast on the balcony. In December I have loved having friends sing carols around the huge Christmas Tree at the big window. At night the silence is palpable, and the lack of light pollution makes for great star-gazing. The hamlet is friendly without being intrusive and it's great to be only 7 miles from both North and South coasts and Stithians lake (with its watersports centre) is just a short walk down the track.

Sitting tucked away on the outskirts of the hamlet set at the
back of its 2 acres of grounds is this attractive Eco-House.
Easily accessible yet with uninterrupted rural views, the house has the benefit of a convenient, yet private location.
A long private drive leads through the paddock at the front of the house and past the lawned garden which has a number of granite columns arranged as an ornamental feature. There is ample parking to the side of the house, where there is also a useful stable block outbuilding.

The south facing glazed entrance porch to the side of the house becomes its intended passive solar heat source in winter, able to be used as required. Surrounding Area
Carnmenellis is located between Redruth, Helston and
Penryn. The Carnmenellis Hill is one of five Marilyns in
Cornwall; the others being Brown Willy, Kit Hill, Hensbarrow Beacon and Watch Croft. A number of Iron Age fortifications surround the hill, but little archaeological
research has been done on the site. The natural region of
Carnmenellis has been designated as a National Character

During the 18th and 19th centuries this area was one of the
foremost tin and copper producing areas in the world and a
major centre of invention and engineering during the
Industrial Revolution. The resultant wealth financed the
growth of centres such as Redruth and many small mining
villages in areas that were formerly open heath and moorland. In the mid- to late-19th century, however, foreign competition hit the Cornish mining trade hard and many mines were forced to close leaving their legacy of ruined buildings. Today, the parish is surrounded by patterns of both irregular older fields and the rectilinear enclosures of the 18th and 19th centuries. Groups of quaint miners cottages and ruined engine houses are dotted across the landscape.

Shops, doctors, schooling and supermarkets can be found in Penryn and Falmouth, which are approximately 5 miles away, as is the town of Redruth. The city of Truro is only 13 miles away. Having a central location it is ideal for exploring West Cornwall with its many beaches, scenic walks and idyllic towns and villages (St Ives, Falmouth) all within a 20 minute drive.

connected to the mains.

From Truro, take the A39 south as signposted for Falmouth and Helston. Upon reaching the University of Exeter turn right at the roundabout continuing towards Helston. Follow the A394 in to Rame Cross. Turn right at the Post Office and Store, and then first left at the bottom of the hill. Take the next right as signposted for Carnmenellis. Follow this road past Stithians Reservoir and upon entering the hamlet turn right on to the bridleway just in front of the Penmarth Methodist chapel. The drive to the house will then be found on the left.
