A fine waterfront villa in excellent order

Tarbert, on Loch Fyne, is a fishing village and a popular tourist destination famed for its seafood. In the summer it is host to Scotland's largest sailing regatta - the Scottish Series - and has a 9 hole golf course. There are regular ferry services from Tarbert to Islay, Jura and Colonsay. There is also a service between Tarbert and Portavadie on the Cowal peninsula, offering an alternative route, via Dunoon, to Glasgow. There is also a ferry from Clonaig to Arran and a daily flight from Machrihanish near Campbeltown to Glasgow. There are two major golf courses at Machrihanish and for field sports enthusiasts the area offers numerous fishing lochs, stalking and shooting. There is also primary and secondary schooling in Tarbert.

Lochgilphead provides a variety of amenities and shops including a sports centre and library.. The local hospital is currently being extensively upgraded to provide an even better local service to the community.

Campbeltown has an extensive range of shops and services including a swimming pool, secondary school and a number of supermarkets. It is famous for its whiskies; at one time there were 30 distilleries in the town.

Fasgadh is a fine Victorian waterfront villa of great character which is thought to date from the mid 1880's. It has recently been comprehensively upgraded to include new windows and a new contemporary kitchen. It has been replumbed and rewired, and a new oil fired boiler was installed in 2008.

The reception hallway has a tiled floor and leads to the sitting room, dining room, kitchen, shower room, bedroom and playroom.

The sitting room has an open fire set into a Victorian cast iron fireplace with a simple wooden surround. It has detailed cornice, picture rail, a door to the side garden and wonderful open views over Loch Fyne. The dining room has similar views and a door to the garden.

The kitchen is large enough to accommodate a breakfast table and chairs and is very well appointed with appliances which include hob, oven and grill, integral fridge and freezer (all Hotpoint) and a Zanussi dishwasher. The units are at counter level and contemporary in design. The floor is tiled. The playroom leads to a back lobby with back door and utility room off with plumbing for washing machine and housing the boiler (oil). A double bedroom and a shower room complete the accommodation on this level.

On the first floor are four good sized double bedrooms, two of which enjoy en suite facilities, a family bathroom and a separate shower room.

On the second floor is an attic room which has previously been used as a playroom, home office and further bedroom accommodation.

Square Footage: 2,043 sq ft

From Glasgow travel westbound on the M8, leaving at junction 30 and crossing the Erskine Bridge. Proceed on the A82 along the shore of Loch Lomond to Tarbet. At Tarbet turn left onto the A83 and continue over the 'Rest and be Thankful' and through Inveraray and Lochgilphead, and into Tarbert. Follow the main road through the village and pass the Tarbert Hotel on your right hand side and Fish Quay on your left hand side. Carry along past the boatyard and Fasgadh is on the right hand side.
