Burghope Manor is one of the centre pieces of "Old Winsley" as it is referred to by local residents. Burghope Manor has its origins dating back to circa 1317 with later additions to the original footprint. The oldest part of the house is Cruck construction. There have been a number of changes including in the 15th Century the addition of the stone front porch. Burghope Manor is attached and forms the larger portion of the house. There is a separate wing to the rear which does not intrude on the main house. The driveway to Burghope Manor is owned by the house and gives access to a second property which is set to the eastern end of the grounds.

The house has a wealth of period features including stone mullioned windows with a comprehensive range of leaded windows. The roof is tiled in Cotswold stone tiles and carries the classic degradation of sized tile from the pitch to the lower eaves. The house has the most beautiful chessboard tiled floor to the front porch which opens into a wonderful tessellated tiled hallway which runs through the majority of the house.

Entering the house, the grand panelled entrance hall leads through to a beautiful drawing room with double aspect and French doors. DIRECTIONS

Leave Bath on the A36 (Warminster Road). At the viaduct junction traffic lights, turn left towards Winsley and Bradford on Avon. Follow this road under the railway bridge and up a steep incline. After passing the sign for Winsley, take the first turning right which leads into the village. Take the first left turning and the lane bears round to the right, where the entrance to Burghope Manor is directly ahead.
