The Story

ADAPTABLE SPACE
The six-bedroom, three-bathroom house incorporates a split-level design. Purpose-built by the owners 22 years ago, it is situated on a quiet road, overlooking parkland to the front, in the much sought-after village of Loughton, in Milton Keynes. “My husband is a building contractor and he built the house to create a home that has adaptable space to meet the needs of our family,” she explains. From the ground floor, three steps lead up to the two main bedrooms. The main staircase then rises to the top floor where there are a further four bedrooms, bathroom and laundry room.

HEART OF THE HOUSE
The owner explains how practical the layout is. “The laundry room is upstairs because that is where most of the
laundry originates and it works very well for us. My two sons each had bedrooms on the top floor while we used another one as a sitting room for when they had friends here. The fourth provided a guest room if anyone needed to stay over. We have slept 23!” She continues: “All the floors are concrete so we aren’t disturbed by footsteps on creaky floorboards.” The heart of the house is the kitchen where the owner enjoys cooking. “It’s what I call a working kitchen, because I do like to cook and day-to-day we have our meals there, but we use the dining room quite often”

CAREFULLY MAINTAINED
Since building the house, an extension has been added creating additional space in the dining room and in the master bedroom, where there is now a dressing area. “About 18 months ago we installed new wooden work surfaces in the kitchen, but aside from general upkeep, such as re-painting, we haven’t made any other changes,” she says. The fresh and modern home also benefits from tiled flooring in the kitchen, hall and office, while the drawing room has an engineered oak floor. “It is an easy house to look after, but I think what makes it special is the adaptability the space offers,” she adds. Planning permission has been obtained for an extension to the kitchen.

PEACE AND QUIET
The excellent location of the house was also a deciding factor for the owners when they first looked for a plot of land: a five-minute walk to the mainline station makes for an easy commute to London. There is also a small shopping centre and services close by plus a major supermarket. “Milton Keynes is a wonderful city to live in. It is very well kept and there is so much greenery,” says the house owner. “We overlook a park where there is small stream plus access to the many bicycle paths- the Redways – which are purpose built in Milton Keynes.. For us, one of the nicest things about living is here is that it is so quiet. We are only 15 minutes from the city centre and yet it is so peaceful you feel as if you are in a country village.”

NEW BEGINNINGS
The home is very much a centre for the owner’s family who often visit with the grandchildren. However, they now feel that it is time for them to downsize, particularly as they also have a house in France where they enjoy spending time.

Setting The Scene

The house offers kerb appeal with its neat, block-paved drive and gardens which wrap around allowing the owners to follow the sun on warmer days. All landscaping has been planned by the owners and the mature gardens boast a variety of flowers, shrubs and trees including apple, cherry and quince plus an outstanding 100 foot monkey puzzle tree!!. It offers considerable privacy with both fencing and natural screening. For entertaining purposes, there is the impressive courtyard as well as a number of other seating areas in the gardens.

Whats Nearby

There are many local shops and services nearby plus well regarded schools within the area. The train station is within walking distance, perfect for commuters. Loughton is a short distance from Milton Keynes’ large shopping centre with its many restaurants, bars, its theatre, art gallery and outstanding leisure activities.

Within Easy Reach

This home is conveniently placed for commuters, with enviable access to mainline railway links Central Milton Keynes and Bletchley. London is accessible within 30 minutes by train. The home is also within a few miles of the M1. motorway and various A roads are within easy reach.

DIRECTIONS:

Travelling from the M1, take the exit at junction 15, take the A45 exit to the A43. At
the roundabout take the fourth exit onto Northampton Road. Continue through one
roundabout. At the next roundabout take the first exit onto the A5. Take the A509 ramp to
Milton Keynes Central. At the next roundabout, take the third exit onto Portway. Next, turn
left onto Holmgate, then turn left onto Linceslade Grove. Lucy Lane will be your next turn on the right hand side.
