The Story

FLEXIBLE LIVING
The couple have gone on to improve their home significantly in their time at Abraham Close; they have also ensured rooms are well-presented and the whole house is in good decorative order.
“We have kept on top of it but probably the biggest change was when we converted the double garage into a family room or flexible space,” he says. “Currently Alison has two-thirds of this as a music room and we have the remaining third as an office but this could easily become a fifth bedroom.”
As this room is positioned next to the kitchen and utility room, there could be potential to create a bathroom and kitchenette in this part of the house.
“It could therefore then possibly become a self-contained living space for a relative or for guests perhaps,” suggests Geoff.

HIGH QUALITY
Other work saw the creation of a single garage on the other side of the house, together with a bedroom above. This adjoins another bedroom and could be ideal for a teenager keen to have a study or sitting room area, as well as a bedroom.
“We also had a conservatory built, we extended the kitchen and we refitted the family bathroom and the en suite to the master bedroom. Everything was finished to a very high quality,” he adds. “We also had an oak staircase fitted – something we always wanted to do.”

HUB OF THE HOME
There has been so much to enjoy about their home as the improvements have been made, says Alison.
“It is interesting, since we have completed the extension work and made the kitchen bigger, it has really become the hub of the home, where a lot of activities take place: we cook, eat and chat in there,” she observes. “We do also still enjoy our drawing room, however. This is a very peaceful, double aspect space, where we can sit and look out at the garden; then there is the conservatory, which has now been refurbished and feels more like a garden room, and is also a very relaxing place to be.”

FRIENDS AND FAMILY
With so much space, entertaining has always been easy, she continues.
“This is a house which swallows up large gatherings of people. We have often had about 30 people here for parties and it has never felt crowded. We celebrated my mothers 90th birthday party last April, with 35 people here, and everyone was able to spread out and enjoy the space.”
The garden features areas of exquisite terracing and decking for family members and guests to be able to relax out in the sunshine.
“We have had both the front and back gardens landscaped and they do look great,” she adds.

EASY ACCESS
The Willen Park setting of the house has given the family easy access to everything they have needed over the years. The property is just two and a half miles from the M1 and it only takes 10 minutes to get into central Milton Keynes, where there is a station with fast trains into London.
“We have enjoyed being just 10 minutes’ walk from Willen Lake, which has peaceful places to spend time, as well as recreation areas, and we are also just a few minutes’ walk from the Grand Union Canal,” she says. “We have good schools and shops within easy reach and have enjoyed living somewhere we can walk everywhere without coming across traffic.”
she adds: “We will miss this place a lot when we leave – we will especially miss the space and the light in the house. People who visit often comment on how light it is and it certainly does have a very different feel to many other houses.”

Setting The Scene

The house on Abraham Close is set back from the quiet cul-de-sac, with a private driveway, which offers parking for multiple vehicles and leads to the garage.
There are beautifully kept, landscaped gardens to the front and back of the house. These provide a high level of privacy. The back garden has pretty terraces and a decked area for entertaining. There is an ornamental pond and a lawn.

Whats Nearby
